The Virtues of YAHshua

THE VIRTUE OF YAHshua, intended to cause you to focus on Him and not on self, although one cannot effectively change unless self-focus is noted for the express purpose of changing. Far too many focus on self for the express purpose of comparing self with others. In this focus self begins to compete with others as their direction in life. If one will only focus on Messiah, the sense of competition can removed and spiritual growth becomes possible. This message brings focus to YAHshua in the hopes that some of you will come to the place of change in Him and cease trying to do something in/by yourself. As I review programs on some of the spiritual networks, I witness more and more those messages that focus on self and its possible gains rather than upon YAHshua and what He has already gained for us. There is a thin line between truth and error and the balance towards truth must be maintained with faith and integrity, or virtue. Compromise is a deadly thing for a believer. YAHshua never compromised His spiritual integrity choosing rather to begin and end each day in prayer and purposes of His Father.

2. What is it about the life of YAHshua that makes Him who He is? What is it about human life that makes it human, that is, one remains in their human state rather than advancing into their place of calling in the Holy Spirit? What is the difference? Note the following comparisons.

               LIFE OF YAHshua                                                HUMAN LIFE

Well, He is Jesus!

Well, now it is Christ in you

If one has any spiritual insight at all, they will see that the workings of the Holy Spirit offer the same lifestyle to believers as is seen in YAHshua. There is no comparison between a carnal life and a spiritual life. The level of comparison each need to face is between their life and the life of Messiah. If the Holy Spirit offers the same spiritual life to believers (of course there is only one Messiah, yet believers are called to be His witnesses) where are today’s results of a true spiritual life? Most now gauge the success of their spiritual life in terms of what YAHveh provides as a result of their faithfulness. This is noted in material gain and not in service to the Messiah. Where are the miracles, the anointing, the direction, the purpose of YAHshua in and through the life of believers? If He has given us all that is needed for life and ministry, where are the individual and daily results? LISTEN! YAHveh has no intention of bringing your carnal life to a new spiritual dimension so your thoughts and personal integrity are watered.

 1. THE VIRTUE OF YAHshua. I note here that YAHshua has many spiritual characteristics. Anyone of them make Him who He is. He is a man of faith, knowledge, purpose, perseverance, love, brotherly kindness, self-control, godliness, and virtue. Anyone of these traits is at least a six-part teaching series to the Church. Messiah is the substance of faith for all of mankind and while on earth He demonstrated the life of faith that is pleasing to YAHveh. His life was not without turmoil, confrontations, disappointments, unmet expectations, and yet, none of the negative was strong enough to overcome His hunger and thirst to remain spiritually positive in the face of all that came against Him. He is uniquely tied to heavenly Father in being seeded by the Holy Ghost and He is uniquely tied to mankind by being birthed through the womb of a woman on earth and subsequently raised by Joseph and Mary. His life on earth gives clear image to the shadows of the Old Testament bringing to the foreground in our times the fulfillment of prophecy and purpose of YAHveh to whosoever will. YAHshua has many purposes on earth during His ministry, all which may be summed in His prayer recorded in John 17 where He intercedes for Himself, for His disciples with Him at that time, then for all believers.

Verse 22 - “And the glory which You gave Me I have

given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in

them and You in Me, that they may be made perfect

in one, and that the world may know that You have sent

Me and have loved them as You have loved Me.”

2. Oneness or unity is at the center of YAHveh’s spirit and for this purpose, He gave His only begotten Son to bring earth back to unity. This unity must be exercised in the character of YAHshua and not in the puny character of man and all he thinks faith is related to. Remember, I said YAHshua has many character traits and each could be a series so why do I choose VIRTUE as the subject of this message, and not one of the others?

3. Read 2 Peter 1: 5-8 Key on verse 5 noting the first thing to be added to your faith is virtue. Virtue then becomes the bridge to knowledge.

a. VIRTUE (DICT.) = (1) conformity to moral law; uprightness, rectitude (rightness of principle or practice, freedom from error;) (2) A commendable quality; (3) Chastity; (4) Inherent power; effect, I.E., by virtue of, by authority of, because.

b. VIRTUE (GREEK) = (1) Speaks of whatever procures pre-eminent estimation for a person or thing; I.E., what makes virtue noticed; (2) An impression made on others; (of praise or otherwise?) (3) The manifestation of YAHveh’s divine power; (4) Moral excellence; (5) That which is a necessary quality in the exercise of faith - a strength.

4. Now, we are all mature enough to know that faith is the first stone on the path to spiritual maturity. Without faith it is impossible to please YAHveh. However, without the installation of the additional required stones listed in 2 Peter 1, the path to spiritual maturity cannot be reached. Man’s efforts only result in failure. Faith pleases YAHveh, but faith alone is inert without the addition of the corresponding traits. Without the addition of virtue, faith stands alone and knowledge is lost. It is virtue that brings to life the knowledge of faith. We see this time and again in the life of Messiah as He lived on earth.

THE VIRTUE OF YAHshua. Surely this virtue, this conformity to moral law, this strength and quality in the exercise of faith is empowered in the Holy Spirit. What Elohim wants you to see today is that the same Spiritual qualities in Messiah are resident in you when you become a new creature. But without the integrity and adaptation of virtue to your life, your path to spiritual success is somewhat short. Note the following ways Messiah added virtue to His faith. Surely He had a mission from heaven and went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed by the devil.

                                                     INCIDENT                                                                                                     VIRTUE DISPLAYED

Baptism Submission to Torah (YAHveh’s divine power)
First sermon in Nazareth  He went His way (not the way of the flesh to "prove" ministry)
Moral excellence Temptations Rectitude - freedom from error
Taunting against ministry   Exercise of faith
Betrayal at Communion  Continued to make spiritual impression on others
Alone against the government of Rome and the Synagogue  Having done all to stand, stood therefore
Deserted at the cross   Forgave - inherent power of YAHveh

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       2. Now LISTEN! Each time YAHshua is/was confronted by anything Satanic or carnal, He drew on the inner strength of the Holy Spirit and chose to overcome the incident thereby proving that the strength of YAHveh can and will work through a submitted life on earth! This is why the doctrine of the apostle Peter leads us to add to our faith, VIRTUE. Virtue is that inner wisdom birthed in faith and watered by knowledge of purpose and application of all the Holy Spirit brings to our life.

3. If one chooses to disregard virtue at the moment faith needs its strength, the moment surrenders to self and the direction of YAHveh is lost. Faith cannot stand by itself. Note the lives in Hebrews 11, they each added something to their faith. This something was the determination to do all the Father required of them, thereby they obtained a good testimony.

4. LISTEN! The prayer of YAHshua in John 17 declares the virtue of YAHveh is in Him and it is from this understanding He is able to do all things. Now, it is Christ in you, the hope of glory, and you and I must pray with the same understanding and virtue of YAHshua from the position of KNOWING YAHshua is in us. Do you really know that? If so, where are the fruits of your reproduction? Where is the strength of your covenant? Where do you spend you most energy? Is it in trying to prove the worth of your ministry or of the ministry of the Holy Ghost through your life? There is a difference!

5. Read 2 Peter 1: 5-8 in N.L.T. This is New Testament Torah for it is centered in the Torah of the spirit of life in YAHshua Messiah! Add to your faith, VIRTUE. Knowledge and all that follows hinges on your obedience at the moment requiring spiritual virtue be added to the foundation of faith. YAHshua clearly outlines this through His life and ministry on earth. This is where each need to center focus on life. This is in being virtuous in faith to gain the knowledge hidden by its lack of application. In following the example of our redeemer, each will soon receive the required passport into the Kingdom of YAHveh. Each of you have your own incidents when you are confronted by “stuff.” This is the time to apply virtue to your faith.

                                           INCIDENT                                                                VIRTUE (to be) DISPLAYED

Baptism in Holy Spirit Continue speaking in tongues
Doubt over your ministry Persevere
   Doubt from loved ones   Obedience
Hunger over habits Rectitude
Failure to carry daily cross Repentance- Inherent power
Disgust Turn and walk away - a commendable quality
Weariness Knowledge born of virtue
Confrontations Manifestations of YAHveh's divine power
Ministry times Submission to His higher cause

6. So, what is the quality or virtue that makes Messiah, Messiah and thereby, what is missing in human life that keeps one from being spiritually virtuous? I submit to you it is choice to neglect virtue by trying to apply faith and knowledge without the strength of the application of experience through virtue. I pray this be the beginning for some of you to really become a doer of the word, and not just a hearer only. The VIRTUE OF YAHshua is demonstrated in and through those who really hunger and thirst for righteousness. You are the only one who can add or impart these traits to your life.
