" The Year of New Beginnings "
Blow the shofar in Zion. Sound the alarm in My Holy Mountain!
These ARE the days of Elijah...let him who has an ear, hear.
There is a wonderful network of
believers in the Messiah known as Messianic Jews. This network is
populated by Jews who acknowledge YAHshua as their personal savior. Is there a place for Gentiles
in the Messianic Jewish Community ? If so what is the name of the
community? Is it now the Messianic/Gentile Community? Or is it the
Gentile/Jewish Community? Perhaps when these two bodies of believers merge, it
can be called,
The Messianic Community. In this Messianic Community of Jews and
Gentiles the "One New Man "of Ephesians 2:15 emerges and then there is no
more Jew or Gentile.
Most attendees at Victorious Living Chapel are Gentiles. We do not deem it logical that we would suddenly adopt a "Jewish" identity.
We draw this insight from Acts Chapter 15. As we learn our Hebraic roots we are richly blessed.
Some members of this congregation wear Tallit's and yarmulkes. Shofars are a normal part of our worship service. Our worship is complimented by our church dance ministry in Jewish costumes moving to the rhythm of Jewish music.
We honor Sabbath with appropriate candle lightings. Our services are on Friday evening and Saturday morning as we honor His Sabbath. We have Torah readings on Saturdays. We celebrate the feasts of, Purim, Tabernacles, Hanukkah , Passover and Pentecost. Understanding these feasts deepens our knowledge of the Father and the Son and Holy Spirit. On Yom Hashoah we honor those lost in the Holocaust.
We are however, not Jews. We do not want to "pretend" to be Jews. We feel this is disingenuous, as we have been exposed to Gentiles passing themselves off as Jews. There is, however, an obvious and genuine influence on this Congregation by " Jewish things ", if we may say it that way.
We do find ourselves at a point where we are probably not "Jewish" enough for some and too "Jewish" for others.
But we do have a specific direction and
it is, the wonderful creation referred to
in Scripture as the " One New Man. " With this comes the role of provoker.
Not
in a haughty, mean spirited or cynical way. This revelation of the One New Man
must cause the
Messianic Jews and Christian Gentiles to pause and
reflect on what the Fathers wants from all
of us. We should not exclude ourselves from correction and/or re-direction the
Father deems appropriate!
